I’ve got a bone to pick with the calendar – this April, I’m switched to 3rd Saturday shenanigans, which lands on April 18th, and Michael Larson will be tickling the ivories with me at Club Cafe 209 Columbus avenue Boston MA in the Napoleon Room from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., because who needs consistency, right? As your fearless host, I’ve conjured up a theme that’s as cheesy as it is brilliant: “April Showers Bring May Flowers” – because who doesn’t love a good spring cliché? Here’s the drill: every song sung in the room needs to feature one of these magic words in its lyrics – no pressure, right? The magic words are: April, May, Showers, Rain/ Raining, Spring, Flower, Clouds, Bees, Purple, Pink, Blue, Green, Yellow, Grass, Birds, Trees, Sun/Sunny, Sky/Skies, Baseball, Garden, or the name of any flower that tickles your fancy. I’ll kick things off with a 45-minute set out front, and then we’ll get this open mic party started with all the talented folks who’ve signed up. Just a heads up: we’ll need your song choices in advance, with one uptempo banger and one slow jam to keep things interesting – we don’t want this party to get too sleepy.
